Havenstad, Amsterdam (NL)
Type: research project city of the future
Year: 2018-2019
Team: BURA urbanism
Role: intern
The Research project is a representation of a square kilometer of city as part of the research into the city of the future coordinated by the BNA. This has resulted in ten design visions for the five largest cities in the Netherlands. For Havenstad in Amsterdam - which will transform from an industrial estate to a mixed residential-work area with 40,000 to 70,000 homes - we propose a new strategy, called Maker City. A city for and by makers, to optimize the use of the city and thus make room for new developments. This is the basis for an interactive and dynamic form of urban development in which there is room for all urban dwellers and initiatives, with a robust framework for mobility, heat, water, data and electricity flows.
